Mixed media, featuring layers of traditional Korean Hanji and other papers with acrylic paint creates a dreamlike "semi-realism" that helps me express my ideas not only about the subject matter on the surface, but also the thoughts and feelings embedded deeper within. 

One of the things I most enjoy about art is the ability to capture something I saw and show it to an audience through my own personal lens. My adopted home on Maryland's Eastern Shore and other favorite travel locations inspired most of the work in this section.

Nothing settles me more than walking in nature, especially when I encounter a scene that takes my breath away. It's as if God reaches beyond the "veil" and grabs my heart, reminding me to look up. Beyond traditional landscape elements, trees, for me, have become symbols of my spiritual journey.

This collection of smaller mixed media paintings  entitled "Hearts Fly Free" was inspired by the landscapes of Maryland's Eastern shore as well as my "empty nest" experience.
